Let's learn and update about Airway Management
Assalamualaikum & Salam Sejahtera. We would gladly invite everyone to the advanced difficult airway workshop, which will help to equips participants with the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence to recognize and manage difficult airways effectively.
Open to all paramedics and doctors from all departments.
The hands-on sessions will emphasize the following:
1. Advanced Airway Assessment:
· Beyond the basics: Go beyond LEMON and other basic predictors.
· Difficult airway update on the various challenging scenarios like facial trauma, obesity, and anatomical abnormalities.
· Critical decision-making: Train participants to assess the situation, anticipate potential difficulties and formulate a clear airway management plan.
2. Equipment Mastery:
· Advanced airway devices: Provide hands-on experience with a variety of supraglottic airway devices (e.g., different SGA sizes and types, i-gel), video laryngoscopes, and fiberoptic scopes.
· Troubleshooting equipment: Emphasize the strengths and limitations of each device.
· Alternative airway techniques: Familiarize participants with techniques like cricothyrotomy (surgical and needle) and flexible endoscopic intubation.
3. Procedural Skills:
· Intubation techniques: Practice advanced intubation techniques like fiberoptic-guided intubation, intubating stylet use, and bougie-assisted intubation.
· Teamwork and communication and Crisis resource management
4. Post-Intubation Management:
· Difficult airway management plans: Emphasize the importance of developing a clear extubation plan for patients with known or predicted difficult airways.
· Post-extubation complications: Discuss common post-extubation complications and their management.
